Ellen Conti has been a supporter of emerging artists and buying local before it was a popular
marketing phrase. The Conti-Cook Family Collection features a collection of New York and
Northern Pennsylvania artists who captured the heart and caught the eye of long time Owego
residents Ellen Conti and Jack Cook. Some forty years later the couple decided the time has
come to down size and offer some of these works to the public. In addition to offering some of
her collection to the public Ellen will be sharing her keen eye and knowledge of art as well as her
valuable marketing, sales and organizational skills to the Gallery.
Ellen Conti is the niece of William Conti founder of Conti Jewelers and daughter of Albert who
joined his brother in the business in 1949. Since the age of 14 Ellen was involved in the family
business traveling to NYC with her father to purchase jewelry from some of the finest designers
of the time. After receiving a degree in secondary education Ellen remained at the family
business where she loved being with her family and among the beautiful jewelry, fine glass,
china and silver creations for which the local store became famous.
